1500 square kilometers of land de-mined in Central Equatoria

central_equatoria4The Norwegian People's Aid organization, in collaboration with United Nations Mine Action Office and South Sudan Demining Authority, has demined about 1500 square kilometers of land in Lainya County and handed it over to the Central Equatoria State government.

 

During a ceremony to mark the event on Thursday, the NPA site manager Male Jackson explained that the area was planted with explosives from the war. NPA Country Director in Southern Sudan, Jan Ledang, said their priority is for the people to settle back in their communities.
