A driver in Juba has been fined 20,000 Sudanese pounds for knocking down a pedestrian. The fine will cover medical bills of the pedestrian whose leg was broken in the accident.
During the third hearing of the case, the Malakia Traffic Country Court Judge ruled that the plaintiff was driving recklessly, speeding, and traveling without a light.
The accused pleaded that the punishment was unfair and should be reduced as he has six dependents.
Disregarding his plea, the judge stressed that failure to pay the fine within a period of 15 days will lead to a prison sentence of two years.
